WORDS TO DESCRIBE WORDS TO DESCRIBE WORDS, AD INFINITUM…

And yet, is there any word what-so-ever that can actually adequately explain ANY of this?

The birth, the pain, the laughter, the heart breaks, the love, the horror, the joy, the sadness, the fulfillment, the confusion, the suffering, the insights, the peace, the disappointments, the triumphs, the tragedies, the contentment, the death?

“The Universe is made of stories, not of atoms.”
-Muriel Rukeyser

Like many, I used to use words like “consciousness” and “awareness” and “nonduality” as if I actually knew what they meant, but now I realize I haven’t a clue. For example, we often hear the expression, “My awareness.” So there is this me that has something called awareness? Really? But if I look now, directly into this moment, I cannot locate an actual “me” anywhere nor can I locate an actual “awareness” that it possesses.

It seems that ALL words (including these) are inherently empty.

Thus “The Tao that can be named is not the true Tao” suddenly deeply resonates.

And that leaves nothing to say about any of this that could possibly be true.

Therefore, SILENCE seems the most honest thing I can “say” in this moment.

“The Tao that can be spoken is not the eternal Tao”… new MJ Awakening Blog

“The Tao that can be spoken is not the eternal Tao.” -Lao Tzu

MICHAEL: You can’t get out of the dream because you were never in the dream. The dream is for the dream character, the “action figure,” not You. If you are what is seeing the movie, then you know you are not the movie.

Even if a character dies in a movie, what has that got to do with You who is observing the movie? Nothing. There’s nobody, no separate entity actually in the movie and there never has been. It’s all the uncontrollable play of light/color/sound… for no “one”! The “one” that imagines it’s a separate self is also part of the dream, part of the appearance, part of the movie.

We suffer when we take ourselves to be something we are not. An appearance can only ever be an appearance. You are prior to ALL appearances, regardless if it’s a “positive” or “negative” appearance.

That which perceives an appearance cannot be the appearance. That which perceives an appearance isn’t anything. For if it were something, it would be an appearance to what?? ALL thoughts are an appearance in what you are, but that which you are cannot be named.

From facebook: A few days ago, I posted: “The eye cannot see. The ear cannot hear. The tongue cannot taste. The nose cannot smell. The finger cannot feel.” Meaning You, Consciousness, are what is seeing, not the eye, etc.

Today I would like to add: “Thought’s cannot think.” Meaning You, Consciousness, are what is aware of thoughts, not the thought itself. Thoughts are like billboards in that they contain information, but ARE NOT SELF-AWARE. In other words, you are aware of the billboard, it’s not aware of you. Same with thoughts. Awareness, the boundless space in which everything comes and goes, is aware of whatever is presently happening, but is itself no thing.

ACIM says that THOUGHTS are twice removed from REALITY… what does this mean?
July 9, 2014

reflection of reflection

It means that words are symbols of symbols. To understand this, we must first see that our perspective of Life is just that, a single PERSPECTIVE, and not the Absolute Truth. Our perspective is an appearance. And to give the appearance meaning, we use words. So, the appearance is one step away from reality, and the symbols-words-thoughts we use to explain the appearance is another step away from the Absolute Truth… hence twice removed.

So in a way, you could say that thoughts are lies about the false! Where’s the Truth? It’s changeless which is why nothing can be said about it. The TAO that can be named is not the TAO.
