Q: What does, “Not my will, but Thy will be done.” mean?
MICHAEL: It means being able to discriminate between what my ego wants/demands/desires and what is actually, presently happening/unfolding, however it appears. The former is my will, the latter Thy will.
It’s resting as the Whole Ocean, rather than identifying as the wave with an agenda. It’s going with the flow of Life, of what is, rather than trying to tell Life how the moment should be. It’s a joyous surrendering to what is. It’s peace and rest regardless of circumstances.

My thoughts claim (and I believe them) that this moment is not enough.
That it is insufficient simply as it is.
And so I set about trying to “fix” the moment, over and over and over, endlessly, ceaselessly.
And suddenly, 50 years have gone by.
Exhausted, I give up.
And lo and behold, a great discovery is made.
That it’s in the total and unconditional surrendering to the freshness of this spontaneous moment that real magic happens…
And the wind blowing across my face is more than enough.

QUESTION: “Acceptance of all and complete surrender to the absoluteness that I am is what’s needed. Would you agree?”
MICHAEL: Perfectly stated. Keep surrendering until there is only Love. And then watch as the “outer appearances” (in due time) begin to follow suit. I keep seeing it being confirmed over and over.
The absolute goal is to make “letting go and letting God” your natural default position, i.e., your instinctive response to any and all situations without exception.
So yes, it’s the complete surrendering of everything… you turn everything over to God (Source, Infinite Intelligence, etc.) and rest in what IS. Why? Because everything “you” used to do is now God’s responsibility (As it was intended to be all along!)
And if for whatever reason you find yourself still worrying about something, turn that over to God as well.
Keep doing this until there’s literally nothing left to do because it’s all been turned over to God/Source/Infinite Intelligence.
In summary, it’s the actual living of the quote, “Not my will, but Thy will be done” in every timeless moment.

“Angels can fly because they can take themselves lightly.”
-C.K. Chesterton
MICHAEL: Whatever we hold on to weighs us down. It doesn’t matter if it’s a physical object or a mental object, such as a thought, feeling, story or belief. If we don’t freely allow what comes to come and what goes to go, we get backed up.
For example, when it comes to eating, elimination of food is as vital to our health as taking in food. If we try to hang on to the food without eliminating it, we become constipated and suffer. Life is movement, flow. Freely and happily allow what comes to come and what goes to go. Hold onto nothing.
This is true Surrender.

Few can see this… the mind will lash out… the ego will rebel… thoughts will give examples that appear to show horrible atrocities as to why it cannot be so…. and yet, I say again… there is nothing BUT perfection.
For example, as I write these words the cries of my next door neighbor’s baby can be heard. How is this not perfect? And if I find that it disturbs me, how is that not perfect? And if I love the sound of hearing life crying, how is that not perfect?
Whatever happens and whatever your response to what is happening, whether you like or don’t like it, whether you agree or disagree, freedom is seeing that it’s all happening perfectly spontaneously. That what is IS… and therein lies its sweet perfection.

Trying to escape the NOW, what is, is not possible. How can you escape from all that is? Where would you go? How would you get there? And who is this one that is trying to escape the now? Would not that “sense of you” that is trying to escape also be part of what’s presently arising? And if that “sense of you” is not separate from now, then escape is impossible and any attempts must naturally lead to suffering.
And what, exactly, is it you are trying to escape from? What is the now? Can you define it? Control it? No and no, for the reason that now isn’t an object, it’s not a thing that can actually be found or picked up or even touched. It’s simply all that is ever happening. You are the now… not a part of the now, but all of it. So when you try to escape the now, you are trying to escape yourself.

Question from facebook:
Jason: I just think i need to be clear on what exactly awareness is….
Michael: Been there, done that… awareness is absolutely nothing… you are always aware of something, so whatever the mind claims is “awareness” can never be it… let the mystery have you… nothing to figure out… it’s the mind’s attempt to figure out something it can only ever guess at that keeps the suffering going… can you notice how badly the mind wants to be “right”??
What is your direct experience when the whole search is dropped, confusion and loose ends and all? “I give up” full stop.
What is left but this naked moment exactly as it is?
Jason: Yea theres nothing left….no thought just sounds and sensations..of this direct moment…
