The ME believes that it can control the dream, rather than being a part of, or another aspect of the dream. And thus the ME, by definition, believes/imagines/knows it’s separate from the dream, otherwise how would it be able to influence it?
What observes the dream?
Does that which observes the dream do anything else but observe?

The question is not whether or not my character/action figure/persona/sense-of-me has ups and downs throughout its day. Of course it does.
All “human beings” experience the + and – of duality. There is no escaping this. The ocean can be calm one moment and stormy the next… and it doesn’t require “a reason” to change!
So, the only question, ever, is:
Is that one, this imagined persona/character/idea of a separate entity actually, literally, ME??
Or, am I always, come what may, the observer of that one?
This is what must be looked into deeply in one’s own Heart.

Q: How can I become aware of my ego?
MICHAEL: Step 1: Insert your name in the following sentence where it says “INSERT YOUR NAME”:
(INSERT YOUR NAME) prejudges every moment. (INSERT YOUR NAME) always intrudes and imposes his/her own views upon the moment. (INSERT YOUR NAME) is never fair. (INSERT YOUR NAME) is always partial.
So, for me it looks like this:
MICHAEL prejudges every moment. MICHAEL always intrudes and imposes his own views upon the moment. MICHAEL is never fair. MICHAEL is always partial.
Your turn.
Step 2: Now read the short paragraph (with your name in it) 100 times.

Q: What is the difference between my true nature and my ego?
MICHAEL: Your true nature is infinite-awareness-love-being, nothing more nothing less. And in fact is ALL you can ever be (like it or not!). The ego is an imposter, a psychological construct/false identity that claims to be you.
It has its own strong conditioned ideas/beliefs/opinions about what should or should not be happening in any given moment, but is not You. For example, it’s what is interested in endlessly arguing/debating its beliefs (which it mistakes as truth) with others on facebook. 🙂
p.s. Note that it is not enough to just agree with the thought,”Yes, I am infinite-awareness-love-being.” We must feel in our heart that it is in fact our actual true nature and then live from this infinite-awareness-love-being identity AND NO OTHER.
In other words, we must NOTICE how we unconsciously slip back into the old ego identity out of habit. It is our earnestness for truth/total freedom that unfailingly shows us the way back to the one transcendent love we have never actually left.

One of the (many!) tricks of the ego is to draw a CONCLUSION from whatever our present experience is. So for example, if we are feeling crappy or down or anxious, the ego, via intense imagination/feelings, will have us dead in a ditch in no time!!?
But let’s look a little deeper. Is this true? Does how I am feeling right now dictate how I am going to be feeling 1 min. from now? Maybe yes, maybe no… the truth is, I really don’t know. And it’s in this space of “not knowing anything” that our awareness/love/presence is most happy!
Try it and see for yourself. For 1 min., just see what it feels like “not to know anything.” I.e., get quiet and tune into your breathing. And notice how much more you instantly become aware of in the space around you!
Suddenly, you become aware of the birds chirping outside, the sounds of the traffic, the room temperature, the pressure of your bum on the chair, the voice in the head, etc. And now, from this aware space, you can effortlessly witness the passing phenomena, rather than identifying with it.

“Start the day with Love, fill the day with Love, end the day with Love.”
–Michael Langford
MICHAEL: This means loving whatever is presently arising. Note that the ego does not want to do this. The ego wants to judge, not love. Notice this, and love that the ego wants to judge and not love. Do not make an exception to loving whatever is presently arising. The ego will tell you this is not a good idea. That one should not love “bad” things. Love that the ego thinks this. Start your day with Love, fill the day with Love, end the day with Love.

Oh Universal Intelligence… the ubiquitous force behind ALL that is… how YOU mesmerize me with your wonderous and mysterious appearances… so much so that I often forget about YOU, the Artist, the Creator, the Master Sculptor, the most Supreme.
I see the bird, but I forget YOU, the bird’s creator. I effortlessly watch and listen as this form, this body, seemly moves, talks and goes about its endless tasks, and yet for YOU I have barely a thought to spare. For YOU, who have freely given me literally everything, I have no time to show my love and gratitude. Please forgive my selfishness Father.
