Because you are every experience you’ve ever had you can’t BE any of them. Thus the Buddha laughed.

Q: What about PHYSICAL PAIN, DEPRESSION and FATIGUE and wanting results from trying different remedies?
MICHAEL: The body will naturally seek relief from physical pain in whatever way it can… that’s its nature and there’s no problem with that.
The practice is to be as silence is being, rather than getting involved or believing thoughts. If it shows up, that’s what is… you remain silent. (As you know, the mind will fight this suggestion as not being practical, that you need it, etc. No matter. Keep internally silent anyway. Life is doing everything… seeing this is the peace beyond words.)
You can also use bodily pains for deep Self-inquiry by asking yourself, “What is AWARE of the pain that’s arising in this moment?” And then noticing something must be aware of the pain or how would you know about it? What is that? What’s aware of the pain? Put your attention on the Awareness rather than the pain and see what happens.
There is no Reality to mind, only concepts.

When the garbage inside our house starts to pile up, we take it outside and throw it away because it’s unhealthy to sit in garbage. Yet when our mind starts to pile up with garbage (thoughts), we do the opposite and wallow in it and then can’t figure out why we’re sick, miserable and suffering. So we think more about it, thus adding more garbage to the problem of having too much garbage in our head!? Do you see?
Don’t touch thoughts and they will empty themselves out.
Keep quiet internally as you go about your day. Notice that whatever needs to get done still gets done.

The practice is to remain SILENT, regardless of what the mind says or doesn’t say. When a thought arises, add nothing and drop back into SILENCE.

“Nothing helps the imaginary person be free.” -Lisa Lennon
MICHAEL: What about what is spontaneously arising is saying it’s you?
“The need to be something instead of nothing… so much suffering comes from wanting to be special… it’s terrible.” -Salvadore Poe
MICHAEL: Love this pointer by Sal… thinking oneself special in any way, shape or form (which the egoic thinking mind is doing non-stop) is imaginary division, separation, where there is none, and thus the horrible suffering Sal is pointing to. How can anything be more or less special if All is One? It doesn’t compute. No imaginary separation = wholeness = peace.
Everything that avoids SILENCE is ego.
