From last night’s West LA weekly Satsang… new MJ Awakening Blog

At last night’s  West LA weekly Satsang, one of the topics I touched upon was how Reality means real which means unchanging. If something comes then it will go and so we can discard it as not being real since it is impermanent. Just like last night’s dream came and went and so is not reality, so too with the “day-time” dream. The body is born, “day-time” dream begins and body dies, and so it will end. Thus “day-time” dream is not reality either.

Seeing this is the end of seeking, for suddenly it can dawn that Reality is not available in dream 1 (day time) or dream 2 (night time).

Reality doesn’t come or go or change. Thus, if it changes or moves, we can discard it. Since everything in the dream changes and moves, we know it is not Reality. And yet, far from being negative or pessimistic, seeing this actually puts the dream into proper perspective! Once a dream is recognized for what it is, a dream from no one for no one, you stop trying to get from it what it can never give you, i.e., peace, happiness, contentment, etc.

And in realizing this you turn to the ever present stillness within, that which doesn’t come or go, nor has ever moved, and you recognize your true nature IS unalloyed peace, happiness and contentment.

When the “me” is absent, that leaves only what IS, the present “happening”… new MJ Awakening Blog

cups in suds in sink

When I take myself to be a “me,” “me” always desires something other than THIS, other than what IS, and so “me” suffers.

When the “me” is absent, that leaves only what IS, the present “happening,” however it is appearing, for no one. And in the “me’s” absence is not some dead void, which “me” imagines would be here in its mighty absence (ha!), but rather causeless contentment, happiness, and peace… for no one.

Observe for Yourself from a Still Mind: You are not in Time… new MJ Awakening Blog

You are not in time

You can’t get out of time because You are not in time. Time is for the “me” in story, but not for You. And “it’s” story fluctuates between being stunningly beautiful and unspeakably horrible.

And yet You, who is not in time, remain ever untouched. It’s not that you become free, it’s that you see you were never bound!!! That time is an illusion and so there is no “you” who is either bound or unbound.

Observe for Yourself from a still mind.

You, like the screen, are prior to all appearances… new MJ Awakening Blog

Movie-Screen

What you inherently are and have always been never changes. Self Realization is seeing clearly that you are neither this or that (neti-neti). All objects, phenomena come and so will go. The screen never moves… only the images projected on it appear to move.

You, like the screen, are prior to all appearances, including that of your body, mind, thoughts, feelings, perceptions, memories, ideas, concepts, beliefs, etc.

When we are ignorant of our true nature we suffer, because we are identifying with a limitation, a temporary appearance, something that comes and so will go. But what is effortlessly aware of every appearance cannot itself be an appearance! This is the inquiry that must be confirmed for yourself. Nobody can do this for you.

What You already are has never come and thus can never go. You are eternal.

Question from my Awakening Community on facebook:

GURDEEP: That which is appear is it mean everything? People, things, emotion thinking etc?

MICHAEL: Yes. Exactly. Everything is an appearance exactly as it is. This means it’s 100% appearance and nothing more. Which is why it can never control the moment. All an appearance can do is appear. That’s it. Seeing an appearance as anything other than an appearance is your own projection.

“The Tao that can be spoken is not the eternal Tao.” -Lao Tzu

MICHAEL: You can’t get out of the dream because you were never in the dream. The dream is for the dream character, the “action figure,” not You. If you are what is seeing the movie, then you know you are not the movie.

Even if a character dies in a movie, what has that got to do with You who is observing the movie? Nothing. There’s nobody, no separate entity actually in the movie and there never has been. It’s all the uncontrollable play of light/color/sound… for no “one”! The “one” that imagines it’s a separate self is also part of the dream, part of the appearance, part of the movie.

We suffer when we take ourselves to be something we are not. An appearance can only ever be an appearance. You are prior to ALL appearances, regardless if it’s a “positive” or “negative” appearance.

That which perceives an appearance cannot be the appearance. That which perceives an appearance isn’t anything. For if it were something, it would be an appearance to what?? ALL thoughts are an appearance in what you are, but that which you are cannot be named.

Q: Why is it said in nonduality that neither that which is SEEN nor the SEER is real?… new MJ Awakening Blog

Q: Why is it said in nonduality that neither that which is SEEN nor the SEER is real?

MICHAEL: As there is already One Universal (100% impersonal) omnipresent Subject, the idea of a separate “me” or “I” to know or witness anything is an illusion. Thus, everything, without exception (so this includes the body, a thought, a feeling, etc.), is an appearance to the One Subject.

This not only includes all arising objects “in the world”, but also the “one” who is seeing it! And this is what is often missed by “seekers.” They have yet to recognize that what they think of as “themselves” is actually another appearance, as it too is known by this same impersonal, non-appearing, formless, Universal Subject that never comes or goes.

For example, if a bird is seen, than not only is the bird an appearance (as is the sky, sun, moon, stars, wind, trees, etc.), but also (and this is, again, what is almost always not realized) the “me” which claims to be seeing the bird is an appearance.

In Reality, no one (no separate “I”) is “seeing” the bird. There is just the constant, causeless, impersonal “seeing” of both gross and subtle perceptions… for no one.

Reality is silent, yet IT never stops speaking… new MJ Awakening Blog

Reality is silent, yet IT never stops speaking to you!

IT’s here now.

IT’s all around you.

IT’s all there is, was, and will ever be.

Everything you see, hear, taste, touch, smell, think and intuit is IT.

IT is waving to you from every direction, and yet still you don’t see it.

Why?

Because you are hypnotized/mesmerized/lost in thought, in your own “private” fantasy about what never happened.

A dream for no one from no one.

Amazing.

You’ve had not one “I”, but billions! new MJ Awakening Blog

i thought

There are not two “I”s, not two “me”s, exactly the same, ever! (And I am not just talking about within different “bodies,” but the same “body”.) The “I” you imagined 10 seconds ago is a 100% different “I” than the one you imagined 10 minutes ago, which is a different “I” than you imagined 10 years ago, etc.

“I”/ “me” is embedded in thought, and therefore is endlessly changing depending on the current thought, and thus not a constant. That which witnesses thought is not a thought and thus not an “I” or a “me.” Thought takes time–that which is aware of thought is timeless.
