Where is Happiness?
November 29, 2012

The mind is convinced happiness lies outside us… perhaps in finding our soul mate, or in having a bigger number in our bank account, or if we only lived amongst a group of “like-minded.” I know my mind has certainly thought those things.

But is it true? Can these things really provide us with abiding happiness? No. Everything outside you not only comes and goes, but it doesn’t actually contain any happiness at all! Does a brand new car literally have happiness within it? No. It’s just metal and plastic; thousands of parts made out of inert matter. Nor is your happiness literally inside another person or in numbers on a computer screen.

Then where is happiness?

It’s looking out your eyes. It’s the unchanging awareness or presence that can only be “experienced” when we stop identifying with our thoughts. Because its nature is silent, changeless, and because it was not created by you (which is good news, because it means that you need do nothing to bring it about except notice what is already present!), it’s woefully easy to overlook.

However, when you are fed up and tired of the search, and you are at your wits end, you can find yourself throwing up your hands and screaming, “I give up!” And with the cessation of your incessant seeking, something is revealed: a beautiful, clear silent space. And you suddenly may discover a most unexpected and welcome LOVE that has been there all along… YOU.

The Toughest Question You Will Ever Ask Yourself
November 16, 2012

If you were to ask me what awakening is in this moment, I would say it’s not knowing what you are and realizing you will never know…

For most, this is too much to even look at directly, let alone consider or investigate and so the game of pretending, mental distraction, and hiding goes on. They never allow themselves to stop and ask the toughest question you will ever ask yourself:

“Who/what am I…?”

However, for a few… the call MUST be answered. Turning away or ignoring the pull is not an option… even if it means the death of who you once imagined yourself to be. And as it turns out, that is EXACTLY what it means. 🙂

From Facebook after posting the above:

Pierre LaCasse: Excellent Michael. Short and to the point. Answering that question will change your life. No more masks. ♥

Michael: Exactly Pierre… which suddenly casts a whole new light on suicide… as WHO exactly would you be killing? Ha, only the poor body gets terminated because of our mistaken identity! :)

Thoughts are Dense… You are Light
November 15, 2012

Feeling light feels good… and the lightest you can feel is when you aren’t anything!

Thoughts have a weight to them when you tune into them energetically. The higher vibrations, love, peace, joy, etc., feel light, while denser vibrations, such as hate, jealous, and judgment, feel heavy.

That is why when we our doing something we love, there is very little thinking going on and so we feel great. But when we are engaged with something we don’t like, the mind is “whrrrrrrrring” away, and we don’t feel as good.

Thoughts are “heavy,” but Love is not a thought, it’s who you are underneath ALL thoughts. It’s the core of who/what you are. But if you only focus on thoughts, on the surface, you miss the Love, which is ironic, as it’s all any of us really want.

Ego Distracts You From Looking Within
November 12, 2012

Ego… he’s a clever little tricky devil. Has you believing all sorts of things… some good, but most bad. His agenda? To keep you distracted so you fail to look inward and notice your true Self, which is infinite, formless, invisible, everywhere. You are the un-manifested and the ego is a temporary manifestation. You have confused the two. Be clear which is you… as you move toward ego you feel more fear and confusion… as you move toward pure consciousness, “your timeless, infinite center,” you feel more love and peace.

Enlightenment… It’s Not What You Think
November 9, 2012

The mind has this fantasy that enlightenment is the ultimate attainment. But how can you attain what you already are? It would be like a hammer running around looking to become a hammer!? All the hammer has to do is STOP and realize what it already is.

However, the drawback with my analogy is that a hammer is an object, and you are not. You are the perceiver or awareness of ALL that is. So, you aren’t a ‘thing,’ but the knowing space in which ‘things’ appear. Since ‘you’ are not anything (any ‘thing’), whatever you find in the world can never be you… you will ALWAYS be that which perceives it. Full Stop.

The Light Within You
November 7, 2012

As you open up to all that is

the light within you shines brighter and brighter,

and the world becomes more transparent,

less dense, less solid… less for the mind to cling to.
